Caribbean Entrepreneur-Me
Commitment is a dedicated responsibility.
For many of us commitment is connected to our family, loved ones and work, with ourselves falling last in that pecking order. This should not be the case as each person needs to commit to personal health and wellbeing for self and to be of service to others.
When I made the decision to start a wellness program with http://www.dextersimon.com there was an immediate mind shift required, and expected of everyone. We were asked to be selfish for twelve weeks, and focus on self so that we could become a more healthy version of ourselves. This was a wake up call, as its always more satisfying to help others as has been the norm for my life. Putting others first has never been a sacrifice, but its also grown to be an excuse for allowing unhealthy decisions to creep in and mess-up my health and fitness.
The decision to accept this challenge was hard. The hardest point in doing something without experience of going through it can be the hardest battle to overcome. Making the decision and moving into the challenge was a commitment and responsibility to myself and by extension my family, friends and business associates. You never know what you’ve been missing until you discover it up close and personal when it comes to good health and wellness. The excuse of needing pills, less sleep and being busy with a lot going on requires mindset changes, and a big dose of self love.
Every single week had character building challenges just to get through it successfully – from accountability check-ins, to meal-prep and exercise regime. There was continuous counsel and discussions on ‘why’ we made the decisions ‘past and present’ and how food, nutrition and mindset can work positively together for a better lifestyle. The responsibility and commitment resided within me to do this with focus on my goals – and Dexter Simon and his Team gave much needed support always.
For entrepreneurs and business people, our careers are a commitment which needs the support of a ‘well taken care of vessel’, as our ‘ultimate driving machine’ is within who we are and what we can do and get done.
I challenge you to commit to a personal challenge which takes care of your vessel – mind, body, spirit – will you do it?
Next – Step 6 Accomplished – is up tomorrow.
