Caribbean Entrepreneur-Me
We are in February 2021, and its 33 days into this new year. Its time to stop counting the days and focus on productivity. Am I being busy just being busy, and can I measure what’s been accomplished in the past weeks to this point. Productivity is measured by results achieved, however there is a ‘middle’ area from start to finish centered around activities for outcomes.
After setting the goals and mapping strategy it takes disciple and focused activity to productively execute actions. How you use your time engaging with others, understanding their roles is key to your success. Whether its with employees, associates, peers, time management and delegation can help improve your performance. Emotional intelligence is relational, and about your awareness of self and others, using social skills towards better relationships and this is needed daily as managing people interaction affects productivity. A lot of time is lost when emotions go haywire and recovery actions have to be taken to mend relationships.
This week in my Digicel MasterClass Series Episode 6 review, Marcus Steele shared his experiences and thoughts on being productive. He shares that productivity does not mean you work hard, but you pay attention to things that create value, utilizing your time focusing on important activities. A few key points raised in the interview related to taking care of yourself, focusing on being kind to others and self; building healthy habits; avoiding self sabotage; showing up for work mentally, physically and with the knowledge you were hired for; empowering employees to deliver results through effective leadership – micro managing can be attributed to poor recruiting of staff or manager. A big takeaway was setting boundaries with remote work to achieve balance for family and self, as remote working is now a big part of everyday life during this pandemic. There are many more great insights on productivity and personal development in the interview shared below.
**Please note I do not own nor have I been involved in this production, but sharing as a part of online learning.
Discovering new ways to be productive or just adjusting how things are done presently can impact on results achieved. Saying no to others can be saying yes to your health, wellbeing and productivity because “you must run your own race not someone else’s race” according to Marcus Steele! As you set out to learn more to earn more this year, share with others – give back and pay it forward. Showing appreciation is a great reward. Everyone needs a mentor when they are starting or at some point in their career and you are needed to share your knowledge/experiences and help another.
